The police have arrested four people in Azad Kashmir’s Mirpur after a double murder case was lodged against them.

It is believed that they murdered a couple for marrying of their own will.

A case has also been lodged at the Afzal police station in Jatlan against six people on behalf of the male victim’s mother. DSP Nadeem Arif confirmed this and said they have exhumed two bodies after the arrested suspects pointed the police to where they had been buried.

The male victim’s mother says the woman’s family invited them to their house to reconcile but killed them instead. They shot them and then beat them with rocks and sticks, she alleged. The family then buried the couple, who got married three months ago.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations to the district headquarter hospital and the police are waiting for the medical reports before proceeding.
