Fawad Chaudhry explains why Pakistan banned IPL

Pakistan decided to ban IPL because of the way India reacted towards the Pakistani people, actors and cricket players, said Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry.

The federal minister was addressing a press conference after a meeting of the Cabinet on Tuesday.

“The government thinks that politics should not be mixed with sports,” he said. The way India reacted to animosity with Pakistan was alarming. Indian players wore military caps and played a match, he remarked.

“They launched a propaganda against Pakistan,” he said.

An Indian broadcaster refused to show PSL matches too. It doesn’t suit us to promote Indian domestic cricket in such a situation.

PEMRA will ensure that IPL matches are not aired anywhere, he added.
