The National Accountability Bureau has handed MPA Faryal Talpur a questionnaire in the fake accounts case on Wednesday. The anti-corruption body directed her to submit her reply in two weeks.
NAB is investigating former president Asif Ali Zardari, his sister, close aides and senior officials of the Sindh government for involvement in suspicious transactions from fake bank accounts.
Talpur reached the NAB’s Old Headquarters in Islamabad on Wednesday. She recorded her preliminary statement before NAB’s interrogators. The NAB’s Combined Investigation Team questioned her for an hour.
The anti-corruption watchdog handed her a questionnaire comprising 22 questions as she left the NAB Rawalpindi’s branch office.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah is expected to be called by NAB again in the same case. He appeared before the NAB interrogators on April 16. He had said, in his media talk, that he responded to all the queries asked by the interrogators.
However, NAB said he couldn’t satisfy CIT in two different inquiries. Shah’s recorded statement is not satisfactory, said the NAB DG.
The former president, PPP co-chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah had earlier appeared before NAB interrogators.
Zardari appeared before the NAB’s interrogation team on April 13. He submitted his written replies through his lawyers. “I have nothing to do with the fake accounts nor do I know anything about them,” he said in his reply.
