The police say the 25-year-old died of a heart attack

The family of a man who was allegedly killed in police custody staged a protest outside Faisalabad’s Jhumra police station on Thursday.

The family brought the body with them and kept it on a railway track near the police station. They accused the police of torturing him. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Atif.

The police, on the other hand, claim that Atif died of a heart attack. Atif and his brother were taken into custody on Wednesday night on charges of peddling drugs.

Atif was shifted to a nearby hospital after his health deteriorated. He passed away at the hospital.

The family say the police arrested two brothers and assured them that they would be released if no charges are proved against them. They say Atif’s brother is still in police’s custody.

The police have locked the station. One of Atif’s family members said that no one from the police has come to negotiate with them. He said that the protest will not end until their demands are met.
