The Sindh High Court heard the bail petition of Agha Maseehuddin, the brother of Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, on Wednesday.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh and Justice Omar Sial heard the petition.
The court expressed its displeasure at the investigating officer over his failure to present relevant documents to the court. Maseehuddin is accused of illegally allotting government land.
The court asked who owned the land that the suspect is accused of illegally allotting. The IO said that it was the government’s land.
“Where are the records you recovered during the raid at his house?” the bench asked the officer. “Where is the record of that?”
The IO said that he didn’t have the record with him. Maseeh’s lawyer said that NAB seized the CNICs of the domestic workers employed at his house too.
“Who has allowed you to seize people’s CNICs?” the angry chief justice asked NAB authorities. “What legal authority do you have to do that?”
The court ordered NAB to complete its inquiry and file a reference soon. NAB directors and those working on the case have been ordered to appear at the next hearing.
