The Islamabad High Court granted on Tuesday former federal finance minister Miftah Ismail interim bail in the LNG terminal quota case.
IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah has granted Ismail interim bail till May 7 against two surety bonds of Rs500,000 each. The PML-N leader has been directed to cooperate with the National Accountability Bureau in the investigation.
Ismail had filed a petition in the court on Monday. He said that he has nothing to do with the LNG case. “NAB is conducting a baseless inquiry against me. It is subjecting me to political victimisation.”
NAB has accused Ismail and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of causing losses worth billions of rupees to the national exchequer by illegally awarding an LNG import contract for a 15-year period to a company of their liking in 2015.
The case was closed by NAB Karachi. The investigation was reopened in October 2018.
