Investigation SP Malik Altaf, who had been suspended in January 2018 for allegedly obstructing investigations in the Naqeeb Mehsud murder case, has been allowed to resume duties.

A notification has also been issued.

Naqeebullah was killed on January 13, 2018 in Karachi’s Shah Lateef Town. It was an extra-judicial killing.

In March, 2019, an ATC indicted former Malir SSP Rao Anwar and 17 others for the murder of Mehsud. The accused pleaded “not guilty”.

After the encounter, Anwar told media that Mehsud belonged to banned TTP.

An inquiry team probing the January 13 incident termed the encounter as “fake” and accused Anwar of ‘staging’ it.

So much for the much hyped juctice will be served by the government.
Not only is Rao Anwar still walking around free, the people who tried to cover up for him are quietly being reinstated. It won’t be long before Rao Anwar leaves the country.
