A Chiniot man has been arrested on charges of beating up his wife after she refused to go with his friends. He had ‘lost’ her while gambling.
Mehwish said that she had gone to her parent’s house to take her class nine examinations. “My husband [Ali Raza] came and took me home on Sunday.” The two live in a house in Satellite Town.
After coming home, Raza told his wife that she will have to go with his friends because he lost her while gambling. He beat her up when she refused to go, she told the police.
Her mother said that the couple got married three years ago. She got admission in a private school after her husband’s approval, she said. “We want justice for my daughter.”
A case has also been registered after which Raza was arrested.
Raza, on the other hand, has denied the charges. “They are trying to trap me,” he told the police. “I have never gambled.”
The police are investigating the case.
