Arshad Hasan takes oath as Karachi deputy mayor

MQM-Pakistan’s Arshad Hasan took on Thursday oath as the fifth deputy mayor of Karachi. 

The ceremony was held at Baradari, former Polo Ground. Mayor Wasim Akhtar administered the oath.

MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, South Deputy Commissioner Salahuddin, and others attended it too.

Hasan said it is an honour for him to serve the city as deputy mayor. He said that he would try his best to perform his duties.

He said that he hopes that the issues of Karachi would be resolved by taking all the stakeholders on board. “The Sindh government should pass on due powers to the local bodies system.”

Akhtar said that the core objective of the KMC is to solve all civic issues. He remarked that the said goal will be achieved with determination and steadfastness.

The deputy mayor elections were held on April 18. Hasan received 194 out of the total 302 votes.
