Seven members of a family were killed in Attock after the roof of their house caved in early Friday morning. Their house was constructed in a hill, after a section of it was excavated.

Four people were injured and have been rescued from underneath the rubble.

The incident took place in Attock’s Arang, in the Bolianawal union council. Rocks and earth fell on their house, killing two women, four children and a man.

They have been identified as 30-year-old Shazia, 34-year-old Abida, four-year-old Iqra, eight-year-old Umar Nawaz, six-year-old Latif Ali and two-year-old Hina. The man who was killed has not been identified yet.

The house belonged to Shada Khan. There were 11 people sleeping in the house when the roof caved in.

These type of houses are very common in the area, with over 500 families living in excavated homes.
