As many as seven bodies from one family were found on Wednesday in Haq Nawaz Junejo village within the limits of the Rahuki police near Tando Jam.
According to SSP Sarfraz Nawaz Sheikh, the victims have been identified as 55-year-old Ashraf Hayat Junejo, his 45- year-old wife Shehnaz, son Jawad and four daughters, Aliza, Nisha, Faiza and Laraib.
Police reached the the spot and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital for autopsies.
Sheikh told the media it’s a tragic incident. “The family was sleeping in a single room,” he said.
The bodies found are seemingly two to three days old, he said, adding that no signs of violence or abuse has been found. “The post-mortem report will clarify the cause of death,” he said.
There is a possibility that the family consumed something poisonous in their food, he said. “Initially no evidence of forced entry has been found,” said Sheikh.
The family’s house has been sealed and a team of experts from Karachi will be conducting further investigation. “The team from Karachi will be collecting samples from the crime scene,” said SSP Sheikh.
