Pro-VC of Multan’s Nishtar Medical University injured in targeted attack

The pro vice-chancellor of Multan’s Nishtar Medical University was injured in a targeted attack Saturday night. 

Dr Ahmed Aijaz Masood was shot by an assailant on a motorcycle near the Lohari Gate. His attacker claimed responsibility for the attack on social media.

In a video uploaded online, Sakhi Qureshi said he shot the doctor because a mistake he made led to the death of his wife.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and the Lohari police have registered a case.

Dr Masood was brought to the Nishtar Hospital and according to Dr Tariq, a doctor at the hospital, he is out of danger.

The Pakistan Medical Association has threatened to shut down OPDs at public hospitals if the attacker isn’t arrested in 24 hours.
