A seven-year-old child abducted three days ago from Lahore has been murdered, police said on Friday. His body has been dumped in sewage, police added.
Police have launched an operation to search for the child from the sewerage nullah on identification by an arrested suspect. The boy was kidnapped from the city area of Sabzazar on Tuesday (March 12). The boy’s family lodged a complaint at the Sabzazar police station.
A shopkeeper, Imran, and a rickshaw driver, Umar, picked the boy, said police. The latter accused has been arrested and on his identification, the police are looking for the child’s body in a sewerage drain, according to police.
Police said the rickshaw driver was arrested on suspicion. During the interrogation, he revealed the boy has been murdered, police said.
Police said Imran, the main accused, is still at large. More facts will come to light after Imran is arrested and the boy’s body is found, police said.
The police are also investigating the motive behind the abduction and alleged murder.
