The weapons used in an attack on prominent religious scholar Mufti Usmani were never used before the March 22 assassination attempt at the religious scholar, the forensic report revealed on Tuesday.
Two 9mm pistols were used by the attackers, the report says. They fired nine bullets from one pistol and six from the other one.
The attackers started following Mufti Usmani from 12:15pm at Singer Chowrangi and attacked him 16 minutes later at NIPA Chowrangi, the police said, adding that they used three 125cc bikes in the attack.
Mufti Usmani’s car came under attack Friday afternoon. His guard and driver were killed when assailants opened fire on his vehicle, however, he remained unhurt.
Another car carrying Mufti Shahab of the Darul Uloom Korangi also came under attack in the same incident. Sindh Inspector-General Dr Kaleem Imam said they obtained some important leads in the case and that they know who was behind the attack.
