KE asks the federal government to increase its electricity supply to Karachi

March 14, 2019

Load shedding may hit Karachi consumers as summer approaches. The K-Electric has written a letter to the federal government asking for additional electricity on Thursday.

The power utility said that a 500 megawatts shortfall of electricity is feared. It has asked for an additional 300 megawatts of electricity from the federal government.

The authority has asked the federal government to provide it with 950MW of electricity instead of 650MW.

The letter says that there will be a shortfall because they didn’t get approval for new projects. It is extremely important for the national grid to supply additional electricity to Karachi, the letter adds.

It mentions that KE has spoken to the National Transmission and Dispatch Company and Central Power Purchasing Agency many times over additional supply for electricity, but it is awaiting orders of the federal government.

People should prepare themselves for the coming loadshedding in the hot summer days and even in the Holly month of Ramdan
