IESCO cuts off power supply to 26 government offices in Islamabad

The Islamabad Electric Supply Company has cut off power supply to 26 government offices in the federal capital over non-payment of arrears.

The government departments owe Rs16.8 million to the main power utility of Islamabad, said the IESCO spokesperson on Friday. As many as 16 connections to the Capital Development Authority offices have been disconnected over non-payment of Rs4.4 million in dues, the spokesperson said.

The chief commissioner office’s electricity has also been discontinued over non-payment of Rs8.3 million in dues. The power supply to the Koral police station and a girls school in Shakrial has been cut off.

The electric company stopped the power supply to the parliament lodges’ officer hostel as well, as dues amounting to Rs2.5 million couldn’t be paid. Dues of Rs6.8 million are yet to be paid by the ministry of sports and culture too.
