A government car was stolen outside Karachi’s Hilal Park on Wednesday.
FBR Land Revenue Commissioner Zia Aagro was sitting in his white Cultus after a morning walk in the park when two men with guns approached him, took his mobile phones and snatched his vehicle.
Their accomplice fled in a white car. Aagro has registered a case with the police.
According to the police, government vehicles are easy to steal because they have no trackers in them.
On September 15, a jeep being used by the Malir Development Authority’s assistant director was stolen from Karachi’s Defence. It was stolen from outside the assistant director’s house.
In 2018, more than 20 official vehicles were stolen in the city and not a single one has been recovered.
Sindh Assembly Secretary GM Umar Farooq’s car was snatched in Sachal Goth, a neighbourhood in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on September 10, 2018 and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar’s car was stolen in Defence on September 8 last year.
Both cars were being driven by the officials’ drivers when they were snatched.
