The Federal Cabinet has decided to reimburse Rs2.5 billion to the gas consumers who had to pay exaggerated gas bills, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said Tuesday.

At least 3.2 million gas consumers were affected by the exaggerated gas bills, Chaudhry said in Islamabad after a cabinet meeting. He said that Jahangir Tareen, the PTI leader who was disqualified for life from holding any public office for being “dishonest”, gave a detail briefing to the cabinet on Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

The government has decided to launch schemes in the agriculture sector and Rs290 billion will be spent in the agriculture sector, the information minister said.

Chaudhry said that the livestock and fisheries sector will be given special attention as they have a huge export potential.

This is to be very clear that this is the amount snatched forcefully from people of Pakistan, misused and now reimbursing without interest.
