Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to meet Nawaz Sharif at Kot Lakhpat Jail on Monday

He wants to inquire about his health

PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s request to meet former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore today (Saturday) has been approved by the Punjab home department but rejected by the jails IG. He has said that the PPP chief can meet Nawaz on Monday. 

The chairperson had sent a request to the Punjab home department seeking permission to visit Nawaz. The visit is to inquire about Nawaz’s health.

“It would be appreciated if you could kindly manage this visit for today (March 9),” he requested in his letter.

PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira, Senator Mustafa Khokhar and Bilawal’s political secretary Jameel Soomro will accompany him.

Bilawal and his father Asif Zardari have already expressed their reservations regarding Nawaz’s health and the treatment he is getting in jail.

Earlier, Khursheed Shah, a senior leader of the PPP, said that the government will be held accountable for Nawaz’s deteriorating health.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that her father has refused to get treatment for his medical condition. She also demanded medical care for her father inside the jail.

The former premier is serving a seven-year jail term in the Al-Azizia case. He says he is suffering from heart ailments. His appeal to have his sentence suspended is being heard in the Supreme Court.
