Asif Ali Zardari will not be arrested: Rana Sanaullah

PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah believes that former president and PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari will not be arrested in the fake accounts cases. Instead, a reference will be filed against him.

In an exclusive interview with SAMAA TV, Sanaullah said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has made a list of 50 people he wants arrested.  He said that PM Khan has given the list to the National Accountability Bureau and other agencies for investigation.

He expressed disappointment over PM Khan’s statement that there was no implementation of the National Action Plan before. “[PM] Imran Khan’s statement is a violation of national security,” he said.

“PML-N members will come out on the streets for Nawaz Sharif and are also expected to join Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s protest,” he added.

The NAB is expected to file its first reference against former president Asif Ali Zardari this month. It has completed its investigation in the Pink Residency reference.

Aftab Memon, who is the secretary of the land utilization department of the Sindh Board of Revenue, and four others are already in NAB custody in the case. He was accused of allotting seven acres of land belonging to housing schemes in Karachi to Pink Residency. The illegal allotment caused an Rs800 million loss to the national exchequer.

The Pink Residency is believed to have been owned by Zardari’s former front-men.
