Lawmakers call for India to stop torturing Kashmiri prisoners in different jails
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly unanimously passed three identical resolutions which call upon the United Nations and peace loving countries to take serious note of Indian shelling and firing on the civilian population residing along the Line of Control.
The special session of the assembly held in Muzaffarabad on Wednesday was presided over by Speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir.
The resolutions were moved by ministers Raja Naseer Ahmed Khan, Sardar Mir Akbar Khan and MLA Javed Iqbal.
Strongly denouncing Indian aggression at the LoC, the Legislative Assembly adopted a number of resolutions saying that the war-like situation created by India is a major threat not only to South Asia but world peace.
The resolutions termed Indian ceasefire line violations against international law and a major threat to peace efforts in South Asia.
The House lauded peace initiatives taken by Pakistan and the release of Indian pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan as an appreciable decision. It demanded India to stop torturing Kashmiri prisoners in different jails.
Later, the speaker adjourned the session sine die.
