As many as 42 boys fell sick after consuming daal and milk in Dera Ghazi Khan’s Model Children Home on Monday.
Of them, 27 were reported to be seriously ill and were admitted to the Teaching Hospital, DG Khan.
MPA Shahina Najeeb Khosa visited the hospital to check on the children. “They drank milk after eating food, which caused food poisoning,” she said. “The children were shifted to the hospital at night.”

The doctors reported that the children had diarrhea when they came. “Despite limited resources, the children were treated on time,” said Dr Shakeel ul-Rehman, in-charge of the children’s ward.
The Punjab Food Authority collected samples from the orphanage’s kitchen after receiving orders from the Punjab chief minister.
The children were reported to be in stable condition. The cause of the alleged food poisoning is being investigated. A report will be submitted to the Punjab chief minister within 24 hours.
