SC comes down hard on two private schools in Islamabad for calling its order ‘cruel’

February 11 , 2019

The Supreme Court came down hard on two private schools in Islamabad that both failed to reduce their fees by 20% and sent letters to parents calling the court’s order ‘evil’.

The three-member bench, comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Faisal Arab and Justice Ijazul Ahsan, took notice of the letters and summoned the owners of both schools on Monday.

Justice Ahmed told the owners they should be ashamed of themselves for treating schools like businesses.

If we conduct an audit everything will become apparent, he warned.

In your letter to the parents, you called the court order cruel, observed the judges. Justice Ahsan said the schools had committed contempt of court by doing so.

Private schools think there is no one for them to account to, observed the judges, asking the owners why the government shouldn’t seize their schools.

After a reply is submitted we shall see whether these schools should continue operating or not, said the judges.

Very good decision by the court. Everyone should respect court order. If someone having any suggestion he must bring it to court notice and request for justice.

I request court strict action must take against these institutions. Further court should also order govt to also check fee structure of tuition academies. They are also charging highest fees from parents.

Here is what happens; the school owners reduce fees, but ever wonder how they compensate for it?

By turning off air conditioning, by downsizing and consequently overburdening their staff, or worse and this happens, by cutting down on increments and or allowances over even salaries. I am saying this (privy to information from affected empliyees, teachers and mid)management)

Supreme Court should also check the fee structure of OPF F 8/2 school fee structure. Their fees is also very high and they keep on increasing the fees almost every year.

SC orders must be followed as court has not given orders in air, rather after hearing both parties reached to that conclusion
It is also heard that in pesh one of school has devise new method of reducing fee. If their monthy fee is 14000 so they are giving 20% reduction on 9000 on plea that SC said that Rs 5000 fee structure school are ok , hence taking advantage by saying above 5000 fee comes 9000 so will give reduction on 9000 and not on 14000
    How shameful buisness aproach

All schools who have reduce their children fee by 20% had laid off most of the staff members and reduced their teachers fee by 10% or by last year increment. Now they are planning, if sc orders any reduction in fee of summer vacation. They will also not pay salary to their teachers.

These schools owners are so arrogant and with sariya in their necks that SC is nothing serious to them. They are testing the limits of SC, they simply sought maafi if anything seems goes wrong. Then they simply cut 20% off from fees while on other hand they impose some other fees in the name of extra curricular activities fees.

All private schools are best way of earning money ,none of any owner of any school is willing to pay attention towards quality education in which they should teach toddlers about Islam genral sciences morality good manners and atticates ,so i think there is no need of these money generating private institutions govt should ban all of these institutions.

Most of the schools have not returned summer vacation fee. SC should look into this matter.

Kids Kampus Lahore has developed clever tactics to defy the court order. Firstly, they have offered 20% deduction after ignoring the frst Rs5000. Secondly, they say that the deduction will be calculated in a very unique manner.: Full fee for Sep-Dec plus 20% off for Jan-Aug This number divided by 12 will be the revised monthly fee now. (so its not 20% off at all). Along with this, they have a seperate bill for Rs 4500 for resources.
The monthly fees before taxes is still rs 29,100 despite claiming to give reduction (that too for a 3 year old child). And it seems they are not giving 50% discount in summers also. I request the SC to look into this.
