The suspect threw her daughter into the sea

A woman killed her two-year-old daughter after a dispute with her husband in Karachi on Monday afternoon.

Shakeela, 28, threw her daughter in the sea near Captain Farhan Ali Shaheed Park in DHA’s Phase 8. The body was found on Tuesday.

She said that she killed her daughter because she couldn’t see any future for her. “My husband said that he can’t keep us [Shakeela and her daughter] at his house, so I went to my parents’ house. They said that they have gotten me married and I can’t stay at their house.”

A case has been registered under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code, 1860 at Sahil police station.

Her in-laws maintained that she was psychologically disturbed.

However, the investigating officer Syeda Ghazala doesn’t agree with her in-laws.

“She doesn’t look like psychologically disturbed,” Ghazala told SAMAA TV. “She is tense and looks worried.”

The police official said that the woman also tried to commit suicide after killing her child. “She did this because nobody was ready to accept the child.”

Shakeela has completed her BBA and she married Muhammad Rashid Shah in 2011. She lived in Sultanabad.

No. They didn’t kill the child, she did. She’s a cold blooded murder — education does not change that. Her in-laws or husband broke no laws.

Husband who caused all such by denying to support and turning out not only his wife but also his infant daughter is equally responsible for this murder with awarding exemplary capital punishment for his criminal act both as husband and as father.

He should therefore, accordingly to be booked also.

She had no right to take away an innocent life. If the daughter was a burden, she could’ve taken her to Edhi Center. There has got to be more than what’s written here. I wouldn’t be surprised if it involved another man. What a shame.

Surplus population being self remedied, she could have gotten a job, or killed herself and spared the child, she deserves punishment for rash thinking and lack of patience- western education is useless without self restraint, faith and spirituality.

Contextual background should be ponder, which had caused for the families to go for such extreme actions. Govt should have strong legislation for prevanting & helping families to support, who are going through such mental stress & disorders.

This is to let everyone know that the culprit is suffering from Schizopheria so stop abusing her and just pray for the child soul and woman. This is very very unfortunate that this incident took place and most of media is exagerating alot so please just listen to the reality first. Again pray for the families and the culprit health.

Simply a tragedy. How can Almighty Allah shower His Mercy on us all after such apathy and disingenuous feelings toward each other (referring to what people are saying in the comments) — I am appalled just to read the comments.

This misery unleashed here is here to stay forever on this woman. The husband irrespective of the fact if he is the biological father or not is responsible for this sensible murder in the 3rd degree at the very least.
Mother, well I have no place to judge the institution that is called Mother – may Allah give her soul peace but I don’t think she can forgive herself when she comes to her senses as to what she has done. Parenting is not easy. Letting go of your heart is not easy. I am sure this woman did not do this wilfully and was psychologically impacted. Yes she should have held her own but how can we all judge her?! We did not live her reality. There should be a precedent set here for the Pakistani society as we are so behind in understanding the basic principles taught to us by our religion Islam and Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and our heads should bow in shame and not held high unless we correct ourselves from within otherwise our moral values will deteriorate even further and more mothers will kill their offspring or vice-versa. Wake up people. Get back to Salat. Get back to Quran. Get back to Hadith. Maybe just maybe Almighty Allah will Shower us with His infinite Mercy. Amin

@ Average Ali – OPEN YOUR EYES, OPEN YOUR MIND AND YOUR HEART. Indeed you are ‘average’ ignorant man. No argument there. LISTEN! This was NOT a cold-blooded murder. She did not hate her child, she did not resent her child, she did not consider her child a burden. This mother saw NO other way out in her extremely distressed state of mind. Being educated doesn’t make you immune to depression and stress and nor does it protect you from domestic abuse. For that matter , being educated doesn’t make you less of a domestic ABUSER – there are numerous educated abusers . This mother to protect her child from the cruel heartless world where her own father and grandparents rejected her. She wanted to commit suicide straight afterwards but was brought back to reality after the shock of what she had done . Throwing your wife out of the home is a CRIME! Neglecting to provide for the family -for your wife and child is a CRIME. This is a DUTY ordained by ALLAH ALMIGHTY in the Quran and those men who refuse to take responsibility are COMMiTING a CRIME against GOD. This woman’s husband is a sinner and a criminal and deserves a penalty and a punishment. Why does Pakistan where Islam is so promoted neglect this very central principle of the Quran?? Is it because it is a fradulent Islam that is promoted , a toxic patriarchy and masculinity that makes a man a tyrant or predator instead of a protector?? IF the husband is an abject failure then it is the Pakistani’s state’s responsibility to care for destitute mothers and their children. It is not EDHI’s welfare institution responsibility. What is the justification of having a military , where the wealth is concentrated for protection against a potential external threat when Pakistan is so weak internally that it cannot provide protection for its most vulnerable citizens?

This includes the parents , the husbands, the society, all of us!
    We have a sick culture.

Wow what an unreasonable debate here, that mother killed her daughter and why she did ?? thats not the concern, right ??, well as far as EDHI and other so called govt. owned welfare bodies regards, we have witness case of child abuse and child rape by almost at break of 2 – 3 days, and raping women in our society is like having an evening tea, like the women whom raped by CDA personnel in Islamabad park and CJ of that time say “Oh it happed because there wasn’t much lighting”, our very beloved and proud police killed 12 years old girl in Sahiwal, and Edhi Home have hundreds of such stories of abuse which is an ugly truth no one wants to talk and admit about, so in such situation, God knows at what heart a mother throw her daughter because what other way around, what our society did to the weak people.

whose going to protect THIS minority of weak and fragile people of Middle-Class ????? whom prefer death over begging……. sad, its just sad that we made a big portion of our people in to minority
