Supreme Court warns parents of action if they pay excess school fees

The top court has issued its written order in the school fees case

The Supreme Court issued on Thursday its written order in the school fees case in which it said that over 5,000 private schools in the country will have to reduce their fees by 20%. It also cautioned parents of action against them if they pay the excess fees.

Schools sending letters to parents in this regard will be issued notices.

The court said that schools charging less than Rs5,000 a month are not subject to this order.

It has also stopped schools from cutting the salaries of teachers. The impact of this order will not fall on students’ scholarships or facilities provided to them, ordered the Supreme Court.

The court has ordered the parents to pay the reduced fees and pay them on time. It also warned them of action if they paid the excess fees.

Although I am glad that the supreme court is taking action against private schools, I am amazed that the Supreme Court does not care about the fate of the thousands of government schools, most of whom are completely out of action.

They get budgets and everything, but they are good for nothing. If these government schools are brought online, they will create an automatic competition to the private schools.

Government bodies should sharpen and correct their focus on their own functions and bodies rather than private businesses.

And I’m just a parent who has paid millions in fees to schools.

Its good to reduse 20pc but it is like this that primary school feesshould not be more than5000 and secondary shouldn’t take more than10000.and 20pc seats should be reserved for non affording student that is their study should be free .

I am glad that the supreme court is taking action against private schools, let see when it will compliance in schools. becoz most of the school still not receive such notice from School Education Department. and if parents provide a copy issued by School Education Department they refuse to accept.

I wonder whether the 20% fee cut is on total fee being charged by a particular school per child or reduction is on the amount over and above of Rs. 5000/-?

SPS (Siddeeq Public School) Rawalpindi has not only increased the monthly Fee from Rs.5000/- per month to Rs.5333/- per month but also have send Fee Voucher of Rs.16000/- for three months of (Mar,Apr and May 2019). This is a clear violation of Supreme Court decision. The High Authorities are requested to take serious notice against such schools.

School Charging Rupees 6400/- per month school fee and did not reduce 20 % fees to respect the court order and threading to students/parent to struck off if they didn’t clear fees. School said they submitted appeal against the SCP decision that they are Non-profit organization which is totally wrong , OPF have housing societies and other business entities and there is no any school run by NPO which fees structure is so high
Please SCP take action against those schools who did not obey the court orders

According to Supreme Court decision, city school will charge 50 % less summer vacation fee but school administration handed over fee challan for the month of June 2019 for Rs.8,439.00 and for the month of July 2019 for Rs.8,439.00. On protest administration replied that court has allowed not to reduce summer vacation fee. I had to pay fee challan for the month of June Rs.8,439.00 with fine Rs.400.00 in addition. When I went to pay challan for the month of July 2019. The bank officer told me that fee challan for the month of July 2019 rs.8,439.00 has been cancelled. Yesterday I received SMS from city school that fee challan for the month of July 2019 Rs.9,815.00 has been issued with due date 6 August 2019 (instead of decreasing the fee city school increased the fee) My daughter is studying in city school sahiwal. What shoud I do ?
Is there any complaint number of Supreme Court or any education authority where we can refer our complaints regarding such schools.

My children are studying at LACAS school and they are charging school fee for the month of Sep-Oct, 2019 by 8% annual increase with the addition of 20% (20%+8%). I asked him why 20%, they said, our private school association won the case carried last year, the SCP has allowed them to charge the 20% monthly which they reduced last whole year on SCP ordered. NOw we won the case and will charge back the amount on a monthly basis given us discount 20% from whole year.

I asked them to provide me with the copy of the order of SCP but they said we don’t have, you can get it from google. Is there anybody have this type of news?

    Please advise..
