The court also told the FBR to submit a report in the foreign assets case in 15 days
The Supreme Court ordered on Thursday Aleema Khan, the sister of Prime Minister Imran Khan, to submit Rs29.4 million to the court within one-week.
The top court is hearing a case on her assets abroad.
If she doesn’t submit the money her assets will be seized, ordered the court. It also said that she can initiate legal proceedings against the FBR if she wants but before doing so she will have to submit the money.
If her appeal against the FBR is accepted then the money will be returned to her.
During the hearing, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar asked Aleema how much she purchased her property in Dubai for. She replied that she had bought it in 2008 for $375,000. However, it was sold last year, she said.
The FBR said she only paid 50% of the price from her own pocket and the remainder was paid through a bank loan. It says she owes the FBR Rs18 million.
The court ordered the FBR to put the investigation on the fast track and submit a report in 15 days.
