NAB chairperson signs reference against Shehbaz Sharif, Fawad Hasan Fawad

Their bail plea hearing has been set after the Supreme Court’s winter break

NAB Chairperson Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has signed the references against PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and Fawad Hasan Fawad in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing case.

During a hearing of their bail pleas at the Supreme Court on Wednesday, the NAB prosecutor informed the court that the references had been signed and would be submitted to the accountability court shortly.

Justice Azmat Saeed said he would not hear the case until references had been filed against all the suspects. He said he wanted to hear all the cases together. The hearing has been set for after the court’s winter break.

He said that people who do not deserve to be in jail should not be.

The PML-N has been very vocal about its stance on NAB keeping Shehbaz, who is also the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, in captivity without a reference against him.
