Lawyers across Punjab boycott courts seeking formation of divisional benches

December 3, 2018

Lawyers across Punjab are on strike because they want divisional benches of the Lahore High Court to be set up in the province’s division headquarters.

Lawyers in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sahiwal and Sargodha have announced a 21-day boycott.

On the call of the Punjab Bar Council, lawyers across the province are not going to court.

In Faisalabad, lawyers put locks on local centres, the registry branch and the tehsil kutcheri. They say they won’t unlock them until the high court forms the divisional benches.
