FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrives in China to discuss bilateral relations, Afghan peace process

This is the third trip in his four-nation visit

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi arrived in Beijing on Tuesday on the third leg of his four-nation visit.

He has already visited Afghanistan and Iran. His next trip will be to Russia. He was welcomed by officials of the Chinese Foreign Ministry at the airport upon his arrival.

Qureshi met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and they discussed bilateral relations, the promotion of regional connectivity and other important issues. They also discussed the Afghan peace process.

During his visit to Iran, the first after his taking office, he held talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. They discussed the bilateral relations and the regional situation.

Qureshi has said that Pakistan desires to further promote its political and economic ties with Iran. He said improving relations with all neighbors is a cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy.

Foreign Minister Zarif reaffirmed Iran's commitment to deepen relations with Pakistan in trade, investment, connectivity and border management.
