Chief justice wants to know what provinces have done to curb drug use in schools

Where are the children getting drugs from, asks the top judge

The use of drugs in educational institutes is becoming commonplace. Pakistan’s chief justice has taken notice of the issue and wants to know what provincial governments have done to curb it.

During the case hearing on Wednesday, Chief Justice Saqib Nisar asked the governments to submit their reports on the matter. The top court wants to know how many people use drugs and what work the government officials have done for their rehabilitation.

He remarked that drug use is becoming a national problem. “Where are the children getting drugs from?” Three people have been killed because of drug use, he added.

The top judge said that a campaign should be run for the awareness of the parents and their children.

The case has been adjourned till January 5, Saturday.
