November 8, 2018

The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that Attaul Haq Qasmi’s appointment as PTV’s managing director was illegal.

The former PTV chairperson appointed himself as the organisation’s MD in April 2017 while serving as chairperson. Five days later he was replaced by then information secretary Sardar Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera.

The privileges awarded to Qasmi are also not according to the law, ruled the court. It also said he is not qualified to work in a government institution.
