Policemen Muhammad Amir and Ashraf were martyred during the attack on the Chinese Consulate in Karachi on Friday. Their families are grieving the loss but proud nonetheless.

Amir is not the first person in his family to die in the line of duty. According to her older brother, he is the third person in their family to have sacrificed his life for the country.

He followed in the footsteps of his brother. “My brother and brother’s son were martyred in the attack on SP Chaudhry Aslam’s house,” added the brother. Amir always wanted to become an officer.

Amir left behind a two-month old daughter and a two-year-old son who are still waiting for their ‘baba’ [father].

Ashraf’s family in Lyari are grieving his loss but their spirits are high. His wife said that she is proud of her martyred husband.

“He would tell me that he will embrace martyrdom,” she said. “He informed us that he has reached the consulate and later we got news of his death.” He had three children.

The Chief of Army Staff hailed the sacrifices of the two policemen, the ISPR DG shared in a tweet.

Four people, including two civilians, were killed in the attack. All three terrorists were also killed.
