The Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal has decided to support the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the by-election on Lahore seats, SAMAA TV reported on Wednesday.
This was announced by PML-N’s Khawaja Saad Rafique and MMA’s Pir Ijaz Hashmi after a meeting.
The by-polls will be held on October 14.
In Lahore, the by-polls will be held on two National Assembly seats – NA-124 (Lahore-II) and NA-131 (Lahore-IX) – and two Punjab Assembly seats – PP-64 and PP-65.
NA-124 was vacated by the PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif’s son Hamza Shahbaz and NA-131 by PTI chairman Imran Khan.
Former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique is the PML-N candidate from NA-131 and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi from NA-124.
A tough contest is expected between the PTI and PML-N candidates in Lahore.
PTI’s Humayun Akhtar is contesting from NA-131 and Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan from NA-124.
On October 14 , the polling will be held for 26 seats of provincial assemblies and 11 of the National Assembly across Pakistan.
