Pakistan remembers its martyrs on Defence Day

Defence Day is a sign of our unity, said Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday.

In his message to the nation on the occasion of Defence Day, the premier said that Pakistan’s military has made great strides in eliminating terrorism.

“We will collectively face our problems following the Quaid’s principles of faith, unity and discipline. Let’s play our role with diligence and devotion for progress of the country,” he said.

“This year Defence Day is unique because the armed forces of Pakistan have achieved standout achievements in the war against terrorism which provided stability and continuity to the motherland,” he added.

“We salute our martyrs and war heroes who performed their duty in defending the motherland,” said Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Events were held across the country to pay tribute to the armed forces.

In Karachi’s Malir Cantonment, the General Officer Commanding of the Malir Garrison Major General Zahid Mehmood was the chief guest at the event.

In Lahore, Garrison Commander Major General Muhammad Aamir was the chief guest at the ceremony at Mazar-e-Iqbal. He laid a wreath on behalf of the army chief and offered prayers.

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa will be present at GHQ in Rawalpindi to mark the day. In his message, he paid tribute to the nation’s martyrs.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will be the chief guest at the event.
