Former first lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s Rasm-e-Qul will be held in Jati Umra today (Sunday) but only relatives will be attending.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif thanked the people who came to Begum Kulsoom’s funeral on Friday but said people should hold separate prayers in their own areas to save themselves from the difficulties and distress of travelling to Jati Umra.
PPP heads Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be meeting former premier Nawaz Sharif today to condole with him on his wife’s demise.
Strict security measures have been taken in Jati Umra ahead of the prayers.
Begum Kulsoom was laid to rest in Jati Umra after her funeral prayers were offered at the Sharif Medical City ground on Friday. The funeral prayers, which were led by renowned Islamic scholar Moulana Tariq Jamil, were attended by thousands.
Her husband Nawaz, daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar are currently on parole. Their parole ends on Monday, September 17 at 4pm, after which they will be taken back to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
