Pak Suzuki is going to produce 4,574 units of Mehran VX and 19,247 units of VXR model
If there is one thing that defines Pakistan’s middle class, it is the Suzuki Mehran, the ever popular 800cc car. Bad news though, the company has decided to call it a day and announced that it is discontinuing the Mehran from next April.
The Mehran was first introduced in 1989 and since then there have been little to no changes in its design. For last 30 years, it has been the most popular car made by Suzuki in Pakistan. Mehran’s low cost maintenance is one of the reasons why it so popular in Pakistan.
Figures released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association show that Pak Suzuki produced over 168,000 Mehrans between 2012 and 2017 – the most by the company. The second most produced vehicle by Suzuki was the Bolan with just over 100,000 units.
According to a notification issued by Pak Suzuki to its dealers, the company said that the production of the Mehran VX (without an air-conditioner) will be discontinued from November 2018 while the production of the VXR variant (with an air-conditioner) will be discontinued at the end of March 2019.
So, if you ever wanted to buy a Mehran then you better hurry as the company is going to produce 4,574 units of the Mehran VX and 19,247 of the VXR model.
