The PTI’s Usman Ahmed Buzdar took oath on Monday as chief minister of Punjab, ending the PML-N government’s 10-year rule in the province.
Acting governor Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, who is also the Punjab Assembly speaker, administered the oath to Buzdar.
Buzdar was elected as chief minster on Sunday. He was the joint candidate of PTI and PML-Q coalition, securing 186 votes against the 159 obtained by his PML-N rival Hamza Shahbaz.
A total of 345 members voted in the chief minister’s election.
