The four-year imprisonment of a citizen without filing a case has irked the Sindh High Court

August 28, 2018

The Sindh High Court summoned the jail superintendent and investigation officer for keeping in jail for four-and-a-half years a citizen without registering any case against him.

A case will be registered against the jail authorities and investigation officer, remarked Justice Abdul Rasool Memon during the hearing on Tuesday.

Suspect Qamar Zaib told the court that he had been denied a court trial since 2015. He had penned a letter from the jail to a member of the inspection team.

“Police officials have enforced the law of the jungle,” remarked the judge. “Why was he jailed when he was innocent? We will register a case against the police.”
