The State Bank issued on Monday fresh currency notes keeping in view the increasing demand during the Eid holiday.
The State Bank issued fresh currency worth Rs185 billion through the 16 field offices of its subsidiary SBP Banking Services Corporation. The bank had issued Rs168 billion on last Eidul Azha, said a press release.
Of the total Rs185 billion, Rs12 billion of lower denomination (upto Rs100) fresh notes have been provided to commercial banks.
Another Rs200 billion of fresh ATM notes of higher denomination (Rs500 and about) have been issued to commercial banks for smooth operations and availability of cash in ATMs during and before the Eid holiday.
