The Supreme Court has rejected PTI leader Usman Dar and Awami Raaj Party leader Jamshed Dasti’s petitions seeking a recount of votes in their constituencies.
Dar had approached the SC after his request for a vote recount was rejected by the returning officer and Lahore High Court. He said his polling agents were not provided Form 45.
Dar had contested the election against PML-N’s Khawaja Asif from NA-73 Sialkot and lost the election by a meager margin of 1,406 votes.
He requested the SC to order the ECP to stop Asif’s victory notification.
On the other hand, the Supreme Court told Dasti, who had contested the election from NA-182 Muzaffargarh, to approach the ECP and rejected his petition.
Dasti, in his petition, said that the electricity went out at 11pm on polling day and he was given the results at 2pm the next day.
However, his petition was rejected and CJ Saqib Nisar told him to approach the ECP.
