The prices of petroleum products will remain unchanged in August, said the caretaker government in a notification on Tuesday.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority had recommended an increase in the prices of petroleum products from August 1 in light of the price increase in the international market. The finance ministry had forwarded the request to caretaker PM Justice (retd) Nasirul Mulk, requesting him not to approve the authority’s proposal. The caretaker PM decided to keep the rates of petroleum products unchanged.

“Tax/duty adjustments have been made accordingly,” said the notification. “The decision has been taken to provide maximum relief to the common man.”
