No foreign leader to attend Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony: FO

August 3, 2018

Foreign Office spokesperson has clarified that foreign heads of states have not been invited for prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan’s oath-taking.

“No foreign VVIP leader will attend the oath-taking. It will be a very simple ceremony,” Dr Muhammad Faisal told reporters at his weekly briefing.

Earlier, PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said Imran Khan would take oath at a simple ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

In a statement, he said it would be purely a national ceremony and no foreign personality would be invited except a few personal friends of Imran Khan.

There were reports in the media earlier that Imran Khan had invited Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and former cricketers Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar to his oath-taking ceremony on August 11.
