The FIA has contacted Interpol to bring back Nawaz Sharif’s sons, Hassan and Hussain, to Pakistan.
The agency wrote a letter to Interpol after receiving the go ahead from the interior ministry.
Hassan and Hussain are wanted in the Avenfield reference. Their father was sentenced to 10 years in the case, while their sister Maryam and brother-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar were sentenced to seven and one year respectively.
The interior ministry had earlier given the FIA permission to issue red warrants for the brothers’ arrest. The FIA had been given written instructions to contact Interpol to bring Hassan and Hussain back to Pakistan.
They had been declared proclaimed offenders and warrants had been issued for their arrest. NAB Chairperson Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal had also given the green light to contact Interpol to bring the brothers back to Pakistan.
