The National Counter-Terrorism Authority has urged Pakistanis not to donate the hides of their sacrificial animals to terrorist organizations.
Pakistanis will be celebrating Eid on Wednesday and Thursday (August 22 and 23) by sacrificing animals, according to Islamic tradition. The hides have been traditionally donated in charity as they sell for high prices.
In a public service message on its website, the authority said that you could unwittingly become a facilitator of terrorism if you intentionally or unintentionally donate hides to a banned organization. The hides can bring in over Rs5 billion during Eid season.
NACTA says people can dial its helpline 1717 if they need to report problems related to this warning for Eid-ul-Azha.
