The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal that called for nullifying the disqualification of PPP leader Humayun Khan.
Khan was vying for Khanewal’s NA-151. An election tribunal had disqualified him for being a defaulter of a social security company.
During the hearing on Monday, Justice Ijazul Ahsan said that Khan is a defaulter of Rs1.3 million. He upheld the tribunal’s decision and rejected Khan’s appeal. He remarked, however, that the disqualification was not for life. If he pays the dues, he can be qualified to contest the election, he said.
