The Supreme Court rejected on Tuesday an application seeking the disqualification of PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry from contesting the elections.

Syed Fakhar Haider of Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party had filed the appeal. He is contesting against Chaudhry from Jhelum’s NA-67 constituency.

During the hearing, Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that Haider should contest the elections, adding that his objections will be of use some other day.

On July 5, the Lahore High Court had set aside the election tribunal’s verdict barring the PTI spokesperson for life from contesting elections.

Haider had claimed that Chaudhry had not paid the tax on his agricultural land. The high court had ruled that the objections have no legal status, allowing Chaudhry to run for the seat.
