The parents of a nine-year-old boy who was shot by a PML-N leader’s armed bodyguard have forgiven the man.
Nine-year-old Mazhar was shot by PML-N candidate Aslam Bhatti’s bodyguard at a corner meeting on Tuesday night in Kot Lakhpat area of Lahore.
The meeting was held at Bhatti’s office in NA-133.
The guard’s gun accidentally went off, killing Mazhar and injuring another child named Fahad.
Mazhar’s parents filed their statement to the judicial magistrate on Wednesday, saying that they have forgiven the guard because the incident was an accident.
“The gun was fired accidentally. There were no fights,” said Mazhar’s parents. “We are not being pressured by anyone. We are forgiving him of our own choice.”
The body will be given handed over to the parents after legal formalities are completed.
