Only 100m acre feet of water left in Pakistan: WAPDA chairperson

The Wapda chairperson told the media that Pakistan has 100 million acre feet of water left.

Lieutenant General (retd) Muzzamil Hussain was speaking to the media after the Supreme Court-ordered committee for the construction of dams held its first meeting on Thursday.

He said that since Pakistan’s creation, only two big dams have been constructed.

The Wapda chairperson said after 1976 work on the construction of dams slowed down considerably.

The chief justice had earlier ordered that a fund be set up for the construction of dams in the country. Both government institutions and the common man can donate to this fund.
