One person has died and three others have been injured after PTI and ANP workers opened fire in Swabi, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday.
The injured persons, identified as Muktair, Saleem and Shahzad, all PTI workers, have been taken to a nearby hospital. The firing took place in PK-47, a constituency in Swabi district.
One person is dead and two others are injured, confirmed the local DPO, Syed Khalid Hamdani. The person who was killed is a PTI worker, he said. He has been identified as Shahzeb.
A contingent of police has arrived at the site and the situation is under control now, reported SAMAA TV reporter Muhammad Amjad Khan.
This is the first incident of violence on Election Day. At least five different incidents took place in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the month leading up to the election.
The ECP has taken notice of the firing.
Three parties, PTI, PML-N and the ANP, have the strongest candidates in Swabi.

From NA-18, three candidates are supposed to be the strongest. PTI’s Asad Qaiser will face a tough time from PML-N’s Sajjad Ahmad and MMA’s Fazal Ali.
In NA-19, Usman Khan will be on the PTI ticket. Waris Khan is from the ANP.
Maulana Atta ul Haq from the MMA is hoping to cut into the ANP to smoothen the road for the PTI candidate to win.
From PK-43, PML-N’s Muhammad Sheraz is up against MMA candidate Sajjad Khan Jadoon and PTI Rangez Ahmad. Locals say Rangez has been holding meetings with folks and is a strong candidate for this constituency.
In PK-44, Asad Qaiser from the PTI is supposed to be the strongest candidate but Baber Khan from the PML-N is supposed to give him a tough time.
From PK-45, PTI candidate Abdul Karim Khan is supposed to be the favorite and engineer Amjad Ali from the ANP is expected to lock horns with him.
In PK-46, Muhammad Ali Tarakai is contesting from the PTI while the second strongest candidate is supposed to be ANP ticket-holder Muhammad Ayaz.
In PK-47, Shahram Tarakai is running on the PTI ticket and is the strongest candidate but ANP leader Ameer Rahman is supposed to give him a tough time along with Ijaz Akram on the PML-N ticket.
