Nawaz’s conviction drives supporters onto the streets

July 6, 2018

PML-N supporters protested in Islamabad where an accountability court sentenced former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in prison on corruption charges related to the ownership of four luxury London flats.

Nawaz’s daughter Maryam received a seven-year sentence, while his son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar was given a one-year sentence in a verdict that came as a serious blow to PML-N's campaign ahead of the July 25 elections.
